Socially Isolating…

Howdy Folks! Like many artists the current pandemic has had a negative impact on my income. I make my living as a performer and producing events so all of my streams of income stopped. I for the most part do not qualify for unemployment because I work as an independent contractor (this is more complicated than I care to get into in this post) I’ve applied for a bunch of artist/gig worker compensation but it’s uncertain how much, if anything I’ll qualify or be able to receive. The reality is that the shows and events I work will take longer to return to the frequency (and likely attendance numbers) they were at before this shelter in place order began.

I started a Patreon in order to help me now and help me continue working as an artist in the future. If you have at some point have enjoyed seeing me do stand up comedy, read poems, do burlesque, host a show, or do commentary while people in much better shape than me wrestle your support would mean a lot right now. The projects I’m involved with include:
Mental health comedy hourMental Health Comedy Hour aims to destigmatize mental illness and therapy by using humor and having open conversations about often difficult topics.

Mental Health Comedy Hour hosts Kristee Ono and Wonder Dave are two comedians who have themselves struggled with mental illness and found both therapy and talking about mental health in their comedy to be beneficial.

The show format is part stand-up comedy show, part late night talk show featuring interviews and sketch comedy segments. Mental Health Comedy Hour showcases comedians who have mental health conditions and after their sets interviews them about their mental health. Every show features a special guest therapist or mental health professional who is interviewed about their field of work. We do this to demystify the profession and encourage people who might be interested in seeking help to do so.

If truth is what makes comedy great then telling the truth about difficult topics can make great comedy. We regularly do shows in SF, Oakland, and Santa Cruz. Follow our facebook page for updates on when we will begin doing shows again.

Hysteria Comedy
Hysteria comedy aims to highlight the voices of women and LGBTQ+ comedians in the Bay area. We run monthly open mic 2nd Tuesdays of the month at Martuni’s, A showcase on the 4th Sunday of the month at Jolene’s and a quarterly showcase called Castro Comedy featuring LGBTQ+ comedians at Strut in San Francisco.

Hoodslam presents Sexy Good Time Wrestle Show

I’m a ringside commentator for the Bay Area’s wildest wrestling show! Hoodslam isn’t happening live currently because of the shelter in place order but you can catch some of the wrestlers cutting promos, showcasing their skills in ring and playing some video games over on twitch at hoodslam.tv

I’m also a part of a bunch of other Bay Area shows you can check out upcoming gigs (once they start happening again) here.
